Message from Director General ESIC

It is a matter of immense pleasure for me to write for the website of the ESI PGIMSR MGM Hospital.  The Employee’s State Insurance Corporation established in 1952 is today an ever expanding family, reaching out and providing insurance and service to more and more people. Today the Corporation is covering almost 5.0 lakh establishments having 143 lakhs insured persons and about 560 lakhs ESI beneficiaries.  The benefits are being delivered through its strong infrastructure of 148 hospitals, 1388 dispensaries and 859 offices across the country.  We are strengthening our health care service network so that our insured persons can avail world class medical facilities.  Amongst the futuristic initiatives being under taken is project Panchdeep with information technology (IT) rollout plan, networking over 2000 establishments and providing Pehchan Card for every I.P.

While modernization and upgrading of all hospitals is being done in a phased manner, the corporation has also entered the field of medical education. This besides catering to the needs of quality medical and paramedical human resources requirement of the corporation; would also enhance the overall healthcare scenario in the country. ESIC has a vision of providing social security cover to all the workers in the lower wage bracket in the organized sector within next five to ten years, to provide prompt delivery of services, developing skills and positive human relations. We wish that ESIC is established as a brand symbolizing excellence in service.

Establishment of postgraduate institutes has been one step towards achieving excellence.  The Employees State Insurance Corporation’s Postgraduate Institute of Medical Science and Research Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital at Parel Mumbai, with the dedication & commitment of its staff, has received the well deserved recognition from Medical Council of India and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences for starting the postgraduate courses in surgery, orthopedics, anesthesia and pulmonary medicine. For year 2012-13 we have applied for recognition for other subjects.

The ESI PGIMSR MGM Hospital has a vision to expand its services specially in health promotion and disease prevention.
I am sure the students will learn under the able guidance of teachers and will bring laurels to the organization.

I wish the staff, students and organization great success in their endeavors.
